Update; February 12, 2011

The All-Ireland U14 Feile is being held in Galway this year on the weekend of the 24th/25th/26th June. We hope to host an U14 hurling and Camogie team and it is a great opportunity for us to showcase our hurling club to visitors. We will have a separate heading for Feile 2011.

Please continue to check the web-site for regular updates. We will also be looking for families (not necessarily all U14 parents) to host at least 2 boys or girls for the weekend of the feile. This is a fabulous opportunity for us to put our club back on the map but it will take a lot of effort from everyone. We will be asking parents of all Juvenile and Camogie members to come on board and help out in different capacities. Please contact Mike Connolly if you would like to help in any way. Thanks for your continued support.

What is Feile?

Féile na nGael (  Irish for "Festival of the Gaels") is an annual tournament comprising the sports of Hurling, Camogie and Handball organised by the G.A.A.. Its stated aim is to bond Communities, forge friendships, provide Educational opportunities and unearth new leaders.

This Tournament includes all the Counties in Ireland, plus some external Clubs.

  • The First Hurling Feile was held in 1971 in County Tipperary and to be held in Galway, this year of 2011. The First Camogie Feile was in 1974.
  • County Galway, has hosted this Tournament before in the years of 1980 - '81, and 1992 -'93.
  • County Galway, has the highest success  to date with Nine Wins, and may hold this accolade this year.
  • Camogie Skills Winners from Galway, to date: Anne Ryan, Claire Lynch, Maeve Kearns, Cathy Bowes, and Sarah Dervan in 2001.
