The team deserve huge credit for their performance in the drawn game. A cold, windy and at times wet day meant that courage and determination were more important than style. Unfortunately the girls had to face a strong wind in the first half, so it was a case of damage limitation until half time. It was tough going in the conditions, but some excellent goalkeeping and determined defending kept them in the game. It was mission accomplished at the break, down by just three points against a wind that seasoned observers said was worth five points. They set about reeling in Ballycran in the second half but received a huge setback when they conceded an early goal. It was a tough ask to come back from that, but the girls set about it with great confidence and determination. 1:07 to 0:04 down at one stage they produced six unanswered points to level the game, the last coming in injury time from a nerveless Aislinn Connolly free out near the right hand sideline. Cashel had momentum now and went into a two point lead despite being against the wind in the first half of extra time. You have to admit it took real determination from Ballycran to rescue that situation and set up next Sunday's replay. They will fancy their chances playing in Belfast, but Cashel have every reason to be confident, they have faced everything Ballycran could throw at them and survived, there should be no fear of the unknown anymore, they know they can reach the standard required and their fitness level in particular was very impressive and will stand to them in the replay.
