The GAA VHI Cul camp is on the week of 18th to 22nd July for hurling and camogie from 10am to 2pm each day in Castlegar. I’ts open to boys and girls from 5 years to 12 years. Log on to www.gaa.ie/vhiculcamp to register on-line or registration can be taken on the morning of the 18th in Castlegar.

Any queries should contact PJ. Higgins ((087-6360931))

Cost for camp is €60 for first child, €50 for second child in family and €45 for 3rd and subsequent child in family. Cheques should be made out to Castlegar Juvenile Hurling Club.

Each participant will receive a jersey, shorts, socks and bag included in the price.

This is a great camp and we would encourage all boys and girls to try and attend for a great weeks activity.

Both Castlegar U12 teams continue to impress with victories over Liam Mellows, Rahoon/Newcastle, Salthill/Knocknacarra and Moycullen over the last two weeks which sees them qualify for the U12 finals. With two even teams entered into the competition it is a great achievement to come out on top of their group undefeated and with some great performances as well. The most recent game against Moycullen saw a lot of players missing between injury and holidays but both teams emerged victorious with great displays from Andrew King, James Smith, Michael Connor, Oisin Connolly and Ethan Connolly. Finals should be held in the next two weeks.

The U9’s travelled to Liam Mellows for the annual U9 blitz. The lads had 4 games winning two and losing two. Best on the day were Ben McSweeney, Christopher Kelly , Cian Gillispie, Malachy FeeneyDylan Wall and Jason Sweeney. Thanks to Liam Mellows for organising the event.

Well done to our county players Donal Barry and Ger Farragher who again impressed with their performances against Cork last Saturday to qualify for the All-Ireland quarter final against Waterford on Sunday 24th July.
